Information and awareness regarding the typology of fraud concerning telephone calls for 'alleged' computer failure (technical support scams)

The HBA informs the public of a new typology of fraud recently emerged, which uses the method of repairing an alleged computer failure or providing technical support scams. Fraudsters usually call unsuspecting citizens from abroad and impersonate technicians representing a large IT company. The telephone conversation is frequently conducted in English. On the pretext that their computer and/or mobile device is "infected" by malware, they ask citizens to install remote access software, in order to supposedly repair - fix the problem.

The Hellenic Bank Association informs all card holders on the extension of implementation for contactless payments up to 50 euros without the use of PIN until 31st December 2020

Following the HBA announcement dated 19th May 2020, its member banks, being consistent with their commitment for continuous assistance in limiting the impact of COVID-19 on public health and trading practice, will preserve until Thursday 31st December 2020 the contactless payment limit up to 50 euros without the use of PIN.

Banks are temporarily suspending auctions of primary residence for vulnerable borrowers

HBA member-banks, consistent with their commitment to support the Greek economy during the COVID 19 crisis, have so far, and by the end of 2020 made, extensive debt suspensions for a significant number of borrowers.

At the same time, Greek banks support the inclusion of borrowers, who have granted their primary residence as a collateral for their loan contract, in the GEFYRA program of law 4714/2020 and encourage beneficiaries to apply accordingly.

Greek banks stand by businesses and households affected by Evia floods

The Hellenic Bank Association announces that its members-banks are ready to assist households and businesses in Evia regions, affected by the recent natural disaster.  Greek banks intend to provide facilitations to all citizens of said region, in order to help them overcome the difficult situation they are currently going through.
